Abintra at LGA Conference

Abintra’s David Maddison had a “very worthwhile” visit to the LGA Annual Conference and Exhibition, running at ACC Liverpool.

This flagship event brings together more than 1,500 local government leaders, central government representatives, NGOs and industry partners with more than 90 exhibitor stands across the venue.

Following a successful joint seminar with Grant Thornton where David introduced local authorities to the power of data-driven occupancy monitoring, he spent part of the conference on the audit and accountancy firm’s stand, continuing the conversation and building Abintra’s ties with their team.

David met with local authority chief executives and other key figures in local government and attended several presentations to broaden his knowledge of this marketplace for Abintra.

Occupancy Monitoring: A Smart Extension of Audit

Abintra’s approach builds on traditional audit processes, offering local councils actionable insight into how their often-costly real estate is really used:

  • Measure real desk and meeting-room use (typically 30–40% underutilised)
  • Deliver accurate, reliable data to support decisions around refitting, relocating or downsizing
  • Identify opportunities for operational savings and asset optimisation

In a climate of tightening budgets, this evidence-driven strategy helps councils ensure that every square metre works for them.

At the conference, David demonstrated how occupancy intelligence enhances audit outputs and influences strategic estate decisions.

Why It Matters

  • Local government under pressure: Rising costs, hybrid working and evolving service demands make data about building occupancy pivotal
  • From guesswork to clarity: “Why reckon how much of your office space is busy when you can know for certain” has become Abintra’s mantra
  • Real, measurable impact: Proper occupancy data can uncover tens of thousands of pounds in savings by eliminating space wasted and reducing energy costs
